Ghyslain ‘Slain’ Adkison is a Graduate Level Clinician pursuing a Masters of Science in Professional Counseling at Southeastern University. With warmth and empathy, she is dedicated to providing a space where clients feel truly seen, heard, and safe as they explore past experiences and navigate current challenges.
Slain is honored to walk with clients from all walks of life on their path towards healing and wholeness. Her educational training, brings years of experience working with adolescents and young adults through teaching, tutoring, and youth mentorship. This background has strengthened her ability to connect with adolescents and young adults through understanding their unique challenges, and offering guidance with empathy and insight.
Her passion is working with individuals and couples. Specifically, adolescents (12+), adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Additionally, she welcomes clients who wish to explore faith or Christian perspectives in therapy, integrating these aspects at the level the client desires.
Treatment Approach
Slain is dedicated to helping clients explore their story, build self-compassion, and move forward with confidence. In doing so, she utilizes an integrative approach which emphasizes a person-centered perspective, creating a supportive and validating space where the therapeutic relationship itself promotes healing. She compliments this with strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and attachment-based frameworks to help clients process emotions, explore patterns, and develop practical skills for emotional resilience and relational growth.
